Ateneo Telethon 2010

Last December 7, 2009, the Ateneo de Manila University held its first ever Telethon that raised a net collection of P1,424,200.00.  It was a huge amount raised in just 10 hours from 426 pledges.  The event was a product of several people pooling together small amounts to come up with something remarkable.  We believe the age of retail donations had been established with the Ateneo Telethon program.

We are having the second Ateneo Telethon on November 27, 2010, Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and it is slated to be an even bigger that will generate a bigger pooled donation.

We will have forty (40) regular telethon seats that will be manned by Ateneo Alumni, faculty, administrators, parents and students on a rotation and scheduled basis.  These volunteers are expected to call batchmates, friends, and relatives and use their own phone directories to solicit pledges for donations.  Every volunteer is expected to field calls in the one-hour time slot allotted to him or her.  We will actively select these volunteers and focus on high profile and highly successful Ateneans who are leaders in their own fields.

The effort will require a dedicated back office.  Alumni volunteers will accomplish pledge forms and will turn them over to the Secretariat who will handle the donation fulfillment.  The Secretariat will also manage the Lounge where other University officials will receive alumni volunteers as they wait for their slot at the call operations area.

The Ateneo Telethon 2010 Team wants to do a bigger event this year.  Having a huge activity will allow us to reach more donors and get more donations.  We want to have more than 600 donors this year.  We also hope to beat last year’s net collection by about 20% or a total of P1.8 million pesos.

The Ateneo Scholars Alumni Association (AASA), the main project proponent, is an active agent in raising funds for scholarships through scholars who have graduated.  For the Ateneo Telethon 2010,  AASA has partnered with the Office of Admission and Aid (OAA), Office of University Development and Alumni Relations (OUDAR), the Sanggunian ng Mag-aaral ng Ateneo (Sanggunian), Gabay and the Ateneo Alumni Association (AAA).
