Social Security System (SSS) Sickness Benefit

Sickness benefit under the SSS is a daily cash allowance paid for the number of days a member is unable to work due to sickness or injury.  In order to be qualified for sickness benefit:
   
     a. Employee should notify the employer within 5 days of sickness or   
          injury
(Failure to notify will be a ground for the reduction or denial of the
          member's claim by the SSS);

     b. Employee is confined at home or in a hospital for at least 4 days;

     c. Employee has used up all current company sick leaves with pay or has no
         sick leave benefit;

     d. Employee has paid three months of contributions within the 12-month
         period immediately before the semester of sickness.
