Hats for H.O.T.S. (Higher Order Thinking Skills) Conference

WELCOME MESSAGE

Welcome to the Hats for H.O.T.S. Conference!

On May 9 - 11, 2011, the Ateneo de Manila shall be holding a conference entitled "HATS for H.O.T.S. (Higher Order Thinking Skills)". The theme of the conference is "Critical and Creative Thinking and More... Using the Six Thinking Hats®". The conference will be held at the Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City, and hopes to accommodate over 500 participants. The target participants include school leaders, teachers and parents --- people who have a direct role in the development of young people’s thinking abilities.

The development of the young person's critical and creative thinking skills is a primary concern for educators. This conference aims to highlight the use of Edward de Bono's Six Thinking Hats model in helping students think well or think out-of-the box. Dr Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats Method is recognized internationally as a powerful tool for achieving quality thinking, decision making and problem solving.

In addition, the HATS for H.O.T.S. Conference will also provide opportunities for participants to learn from senior educators who will present strategies by which the students' thinking skills can be developed through the different subject areas. There are also sessions for parents to gain insights on what they can do to enhance the thinking abilities of their children.
