The Heritage Room
Keeping Memories Alive for the Generations to Come

Come and visit The Heritage Room, where memories of Ateneo’s past come alive. Experience the magic of this concrete fabric of time where we relive the memories of long-ago and the rich cultural heritage of the Ateneo. Within the four corners of this room, we celebrate the history of this esteemed institution. We remember the events which have molded and changed the once humble grade school of only 33 students to the school it is today. We take pride in the history of the Ateneo and we invite you to join us as we go on the journey, looking back at the last one hundred fifty years and onwards to the next one hundred fifty. We present to you the story of our school. Welcome to The Heritage Room.

The Heritage Room contains permanent collections and displays.

The AGS Timeline Wall
The Timeline Wall is a dominant feature of the Heritage Room. The pictures narrate the history of the Ateneo de Manila Grade School from the campus in Intramuros to its moving to the Loyola Heights Campus, dating from 1859 to 2007.

The Portraits of the Headmasters
The painted portraits of the Headmasters which are part of the permanent collection were done by prominent artists such as Araceli Limcaco-Dans and Ben-Hur Villanueva, both of which were once faculty members of the Ateneo de Manila Grade School. Norman Sustiguer, a professional portrait artist, was also commissioned to do some of the portraits.

The Wall of Distinguished Service
On the glass are the names of the faculty, staff and maintenance who have rendered service to the Ateneo de Manila Grade School for 25 years or more – dating from the  1950s to the present. The names of the future awardees will also be etched on the glass.

Statues of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and St. Ignatius of Loyola
A replica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception which was discovered in the Ateneo at Intramuros and an image of St. Ignatius of Loyola in his elaborate chasuble which was meticulously carved by Paete artists stand inside the room.

The Heritage Room is open during class hours and pre-arranged visits. It can accommodate a class of 45 students at a time. Visitors from other schools are also welcome.
