Leaders and Educators in Asia Program (LEAP)
A Program for the Development of Nine (9) Selected Public Schools in Quezon City in Partnership with Temasek Foundation and National Institute of Education, Singapore

The Temasek Foundation-NIE Leaders and Educators in Asia Program (LEAP) aims to encourage growth and innovation in education, and establish a strong network of leaders and educators.  This initiative, funded by the Temasek Foundation (TF) and supported by the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore, started with educators in the Philippines, in collaboration with the Ateneo de Manila University.

This project began with 9 participating public schools in Quezon City:

   Culiat ES                     Ernesto Rondon HS
Mines ES                     Ismael Mathay Sr. HS
Pasong Tamo ES          Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) HS
   Sauyo ES                     San Bartolome HS
   Tandang Sora ES

The program involves more than 80 educators, including new and in-service teachers, Heads of Departments and Principals.  Educators from the participating schools receive sponsorships to attend Postgraduate Diploma, Leadership and other Professional Development programs conducted either at NIE (Singapore) or at the Ateneo de Manila University (Manila).

The aim of these development programs is to establish a community of educators who can foster innovative teaching practices within their community and beyond.  The transfer of knowledge is expected to benefit more than 30,000 students when these educators return to their schools to teach and share their knowledge with fellow educators.

It is encouraging to note that this program, designed through the TF-NIE-Ateneo partnership, has been a catalyst to encourage learning among teaching professionals.  Leaders from the 9 schools have formed cluster committees and have started to promote professional development among their schools as well as with other public schools.
