The BS in Management Information Systems (BS MIS) program is designed to produce future Chief Information Officers (CIOs)—professionals who can harness information and communication technology (ICTs) to meet strategic business objectives. The program caters to students who wish to pursue an integrated technology and management course that will teach them how ICTs push business agendas forward. A joint offering of the Department of Information Systems and Computer Science and the John Gokongwei School of Management, students enroll in computer science courses, management engineering courses, and integrative MIS courses that underscore the value-added uses of ICTs in enterprises. Students are encouraged to specialize in business intelligence, enterprise systems, or interactive multimedia.
Graduates find immediate employment as systems analysts, project managers, applications programmers, and information technology support personnel for banks, telecommunications firms, media companies, manufacturing concerns, hardware and software solutions providers, etc. Personnel with their level of skills are in high demand both here and abroad. They can be assured of competitive compensation, career growth, and global mobility.
