A Message from the Vice President for the Loyola Schools

Maria Assunta C. Cuyegkeng, Ph.D.Welcome to the Loyola Schools of the Ateneo de Manila University!

Through this website, allow us to walk you through the Loyola Schools, which, collectively, offers some of the finest undergraduate and graduate programs of the country.

For undergraduates, our academic programs consist of the core curriculum that has a strong liberal arts component; the major curriculum that provides the competencies and develops values for a future career; and a research or project that provides students the opportunity to take control of their learning. These programs are complemented by non-academic programs that develop leadership and provide exposure to the realities of society, nation, and the environment.

Our graduate programs cater to both research and professional practice in various disciplines. We have a special commitment to the formation of educators and scholars who will contribute to the Philippine society and to the educational system, in particular.

It is often difficult to describe the Ateneo way of doing things, but perhaps, one distinctive characteristic of the Ateneo education is cura personalis—the care for the individual person. It is through this care, through student-centered learning, that each student’s gifts may be recognized and nurtured.

Share the journey with us and see how this Filipino, Catholic, and Jesuit university forms graduates who are academically competent, socially aware, spiritually mature, and culturally rooted—persons who will be Light in the Lord in today’s world.
