The Department's research is, as a goal, "rooted to the history of philosophy as it articulates and strengthens an indigenous voice in contemporary philosophical discourse."
Research in the Department is organized according to four particular niches, or "desks," as follows:
- Metaphysics, Ancient and Modern Philosophy
- Epistemology, Modern and Contemporary Philosophy
- Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy
- Culture, Arts, Science and Religion
Faculty are encouraged to take part in the activities of these desks according to their interest.
Furthermore, there are two ongoing research projects within the Department: the Symposium translation project and a project of an essay compilation on the theme of solidarity. Other similar projects may be carried out in the future.
