Master of Mathematics (MoM)
The past years have seen major changes in the mathematics needed by both the student to become an accomplished professional and the professional to stay in tune with the fast developing techniques and algorithms used in solving everyday problems.
Thus, more than ever, advanced mathematics is playing a greater role in both the industry and science. Ateneo de Manila University's Mathematics' Department precisely answers these needs through the Master of Mathematics (MoM).
The program is designed for the following groups:
1. the mathematics educator responsible for the student who would be a fututre prefessional and
2. the professional seeking to strengthen his mathematics background to keep up with the changing times.
This is intended for individuals who wish to gain a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of mathematics through special courses in analysis, algebra, and combinatorics. Students of this program may choose to major in Abstract or Applied Mathematics. The thesis work required prepares students for doctoral level research in mathematics.
MS Mathematics Education (MS MaEd)
The Master of Science in Mathematics Education program at the Ateneo de Manila University addresses the theory and practice of school mathematics. Our MS Ma-Ed graduates are experts in the theory of school mathematics by requiring our students to complete school mathematics content from both the didactic and advanced standpoints and the practice of school mathematics by requiring our students to take several mathematics education courses and develop action research-based paper that incorporates theoretical and methodological learnings.
This degree program is primarily intended for upper elementary and high school mathematics teachers. It is also open to graduates who intend to pursue a career in mathematics teaching at the upper elementary or high school level.
This is intended for individuals who have special interest in doing research in mathematics. Students of this program are constantly exposed to significant results and trends in their chosen field of specialization. Possible areas of specialization include Combinatorics and Graph Theory, Design Theory, Dynamical Systems and Real Analysis.
