Last August 29, the Ateneo School of Government (ASG) and the Konrad –Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) launched the book, How to Win An  Election: Lessons from the  Experts.  The event was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati City.  The publication is a handy manual and comprehensive analytical review of the ins and outs of preparing for and managing an electoral campaign in the Philippines.  It is the result of research and in-depth interviews with select officials, campaign strategists, and public relations experts.

One hundred (100) participants representing the academe, government, media and the NGO community attended the launching.

Ms. Chay Florentino-Hofileña, a Philosophy graduate from the Ateneo and a seasoned journalist gives the overview as the book’s editor.
Ms. Chay Florentino-Hofilena, the editor of the publication gave four points on the rationale of the book during her presentation of its overview.  She said that: (1) idealism alone does not win elections; (2) everybody deserves a fighting chance; (3) winning should not be a monopoly of incumbents or veterans; and finally, (4) reform-minded political neophytes should know the game and how to play it.

A lively panel discussion hosted by multi-awarded Cheche Lazaro of the Probe Team followed the presentation of the overview.  Included in the panel are Gov. Daisy Avance Fuentes of South Cotabato, political strategist Malou Tiquia of Publicus, marketing expert Yolly Villanueva-Ong of Campaigns & Grey, Mayors Omar Ali and Jesse Robredo of Marawi and Naga City, and journalist Glenda Gloria.
